Ep 18 - Understanding and Developing Self Worth in Teens with Margarita Donies
Thursday May 20, 2021
Thursday May 20, 2021
In this episode of the Parent Teen Mindset Show, Forrest and Beau interview licensed mental health counselor, Margarita Donies, on the subject of SELF WORTH.
As we all know, a low sense of self-worth at minimum will prevent our teens from being more outgoing, trying new things, meeting new people, and will make them feel "less" in school and in life. At its worst, a low self worth can cause teens to fall to peer pressure, become victims of abuse and bullying, and cause a teen to settle for the lowest common denominator in school and in life.
When a teen has high sense of self worth, they are more apt to try new things, to speak and act confidently, to be a leader, to make new friends, and to make choices based on their sense of who they are and their core values.
Obviously we want our teen to have as much self worth as possible, but how do we get there?
Why is it that some teenagers have high self-esteem and some struggle with it?
What role does the teens parents and environment play in developing self worth?
How can we help develop our teens sense of value, self worth, and self esteem?
These are all questions that Margarita answers in this podcast episode.
Please share this episode, IT TAKES A VILLAGE!

WARNING - Parents please heed this urgent message.
Your teen doesn't need to be a drug user to be killed by Fentanyl.
It's now "hidden" in sleeping pills, anxiety pills, laced into cannabis, and is VERY easy to obtain through "friends" on Snapchat and other social media.
FACT - Fentanyl is a DEADLY and powerful synthetic opioid analgesic that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent.
In this episode, Lisa Garces tells us her heartbreaking story of losing her daughter, Jada, to fentanyl that was in a given to her in a seemingly harmless anti-anxiety pill.
Understanding and knowing what this drug is and how it's being distributed could save the life of your teen.
PLEASE SEND THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW.
- Parents of teens
- Church groups
- Youth groups
- School administrators
WE MUST BAND TOGETHER TO SPREAD AWARENESS TO SAVE LIVES!
Thank-you, Lisa, for the courage you've shown to help other parents and teens. We are so incredibly sorry for your loss, and your angel is working her blessings on us through your light.

Ep 12 - Student Success Secrets BOOK LAUNCH with Rahz Slaughter
Thursday Apr 08, 2021
Thursday Apr 08, 2021
In today's episode, Teen Motivation Coach, Rahz Slaughter, gives us all 7 steps in his new book, Student Success Secrets!
Rahz gives us a deep-dive overview of his first 5 steps, and then continues on to overview the final 2 steps...this book is a MUST for parents with teens in middle school and high school.
INSPIRE|MOTIVATE|RISE
Rahz “The Motivator" Slaughter is a motivational speaker who has spent years helping children and teens improve their mindsets and take charge of their lives.
Born with a disability and raised by a single mother who suffered from addiction, he was told countless times that he had limitations, that there would be things that he could not do, be, or achieve.
Despite these messages, Rahz was unstoppable and set out to create a life of his doing and not what others expected of him.
Today, Rahz Slaughter is a motivational speaker and successful business owner. He is also an athlete, personal trainer, nutritionist, and coach.
He has spent over 20 years in the fitness business, coaching and motivating people to make better life choices and improve their health.
He was told that he could not body build or train others, but he ignored that and went on to win second place in a National Amateur Body Building Association competition and has coached thousands of people to greatness. Rahz especially finds great joy and fulfillment in shaping and motivating the mindsets of youth, particularly those who are "at-risk" or have difficult life circumstances.
At student assemblies, Rahz uses stories from his own challenging life experiences, and he teaches kids how he overcame his own negative circumstances. He reinforces your school's established core values, creates a compassionate environment, and infuses positivity and strength in today's youth.
He teaches them how to develop skills to change negative mindsets and sends the message that anything is truly possible with determination, discipline, and hard work. And most of all, he connects with children in a way in which they take notice of his compassion and caring nature.
